Wild Gravel is raising the challenge in 2026 with the launch of the new Untamed events, created for participants seeking a more rugged and demanding off-road experience.
Featuring both ride and run options, the Untamed courses move beyond the smoother gravel roads traditionally associated with the event and into tougher terrain designed to test endurance, skill and determination.
The course begins opposite the event village before heading north towards Mount Trio along firebreak tracks. Participants will navigate sandy, rocky and bush-lined sections before tackling a long and hilly return towards the finish line.
Organisers say that while the course will be challenging, the scenery and overall experience will make it worthwhile — with a cold beverage waiting at the finish.The Untamed trail run includes either an 11km out-and-back course or a full 21km loop, while cyclists can take on the new Untamed 95km ride.
Participants are encouraged to carefully consider their fitness and experience levels before registering and to contact organisers if unsure whether the event is suitable for them.
Safety remains a priority, with moto marshals positioned along the course and pit stops available to support participants throughout the event.
Wild Gravel organisers say the Untamed events are designed for those seeking adventure, challenge and a true off-road experience unlike anything else currently offered within the event program.
